Your First Visit

Your first visit with our office is an important step in building a long-term approach to your dental health. For new patients, the appointment begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your mouth, followed by a conversation about your goals, concerns, and expectations.

This initial visit allows Dr. Hoover or Dr. Yanda to understand your dental history, current oral health, and any immediate needs. Together, we discuss a plan to address existing concerns while helping prevent future problems. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please let our front office know so we can arrange prompt care.

A thorough examination is essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Your visit may include a review of your medical and dental history, an oral cancer screening, periodontal evaluation, assessment for TMJ concerns, and digital X-rays to view areas not visible during a visual exam. Photographs may also be taken to document specific findings and support long-term care planning.

We reserve one hour for a complete adult new patient examination. Because periodontal needs vary widely, dental cleanings are not always completed during the first visit. This allows us to provide care that is appropriate for your specific oral health needs.

After your examination, your doctor will review findings with you, discuss any recommended treatment, and explain associated fees. Our team will help you understand next steps and answer any questions you may have.

Insurance and Payment Information

Many of our patients carry dental insurance, and we work with a wide range of plans. Dental insurance can help offset the cost of care, though coverage varies based on individual policies. Our team is happy to review your benefits and help you understand how they apply to recommended treatment.

We ask patients to bring insurance information to their first appointment so we can verify benefits and submit claims on your behalf. Patients are responsible for deductibles and any services not covered by their plan. For your convenience, we accept major credit cards and CareCredit.

For patients without dental insurance, Dr. Hoover, Dr. Yanda & Associates offers a Dental Membership Program designed to make preventive and ongoing dental care more accessible.

Appointments and Scheduling

We value your time and make every effort to see patients as scheduled. Emergencies and unexpected situations may occasionally affect timing, and when this occurs, we communicate with patients as early as possible.

Appointments are typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with extended hours available on select days. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if an appointment needs to be changed to avoid a broken appointment fee. Appointment confirmations are sent in advance using your preferred method of communication.
